About
A studio, not a factory.
Kraken Labs was founded in 2014 by Thomas Barnwell, a software engineer with decades spent shipping products, and an audio engineer and film composer of fifteen years. He started Kraken Labs to bridge the gap between the two, building software for audio engineers and composers. Every product begins the same way: noticing something missing in the tools people rely on, and deciding it's worth fixing.
Every product here is built to be exact, fast, and quiet. Software that does one hard thing properly, then gets out of the way.

Octant Loudness Meter
The free audio delivery meter.
A free loudness and true peak meter for delivering audio to spec. Pick a target (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, Netflix, EBU R128, ATSC A/85, podcast, or your own) and Octant tells you how far under or over you are, not just numbers. Everything unlocked.
Alidade EQ
Mix toward a reference curve.
A free reference-target EQ. A full parametric EQ with high/low pass and a live spectrum analyzer, plus an editable target tonal curve you shape your mix toward, the tonal companion to Octant's loudness targets. macOS VST3 and AU.

A drum-fill step sequencer where every key holds a whole pattern, not a single hit. Press a key to fire a tempo-synced fill across a 9-piece kit, one-shot or looping while held. Roller plays its own sampled kit and emits General MIDI at the same time, so it can drive an external drum machine too. macOS VST3 and AU.
